Employment and teaching experience:  

Okt 2003: Working partly for Ţekking hf on solutions for educational institutions on ICT in education and partly self employed as consultant and online teacher.

May 2003: Ran for parliament for the Alliance party (Samfylkingin) and will be the 1st alternate for my party in my constituency until 2007. (Will work as normal unless the parliament members have to take a leave for more than a week then I need to go to the parliament).

From January 2002Established lara.is and working on various projects, teaching and activities.

1998 - 2002: Senior High School at Akureyri. Head of ICT department and teacher. In 1999 the school was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research as one of three pilot schools developing IT into education, leading that project in the school. The program will be ongoing until year 2002.  

2000-2004: Assistant project director of Kidlink (http://www.kidlink.org)

Worked on developing IT into the national curriculum presented by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research spring 1999.

Manager of Multi Language Area in Kidlink.  

1998 - 1999
Representing the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research in IDUN II (Information technology and data pedagogy in education) participating on behalf of the ministry in the group, which is coordinated by the Nordic council of ministers. IDUN II is the succeed of IDUN.  

1997 Educational district service for primary schools. Consulting on IT and mathematics in education.  

1995-1997 Work on freelance basis from December 1995.

  • Ministry of Education and Culture: Developing IT strategy for Icelandic schools from preschool to university level. Published March 1996.

  • Internet educational consultant for Telia in Sweden as well as some educational institutions in Iceland.

  • Representing the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research in IDUN (Information technology and data pedagogy in education) participating on behalf of the ministry in the group, which is coordinated by the Nordic council of ministers.

  • Representing the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research in the Nordic School Network - Odin participating on behalf of the ministry in a group organized by the Nordic Council of ministers.

  • Assistant Project Director of Kidlink, at December 1996 - July 1999.

  • Established Kidlink in Icelandic language.  

1992-1995:

  • One of the establishers of The Icelandic Educational Network (ISMENNT), working role: Educational director. Ismennt connected over 90% of Icelandic schools to Internet by the year 1993.

  • Representing Iceland in a Nordic group on "Adult education and new technology". Financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

  • Joined Kidlink on-line project for kids aged through 15 in 1993, established Kidforum a topic work for kids being first manager of Kidforum, first project included over 500 kids from 16 countries. Elected as board member of Kidlink on behalf of the Europe continent 1994-1998  

1988-1992: "Fjolbrautaskolinn vid Armula" (Upper secondary). Teaching computer science. Responsible for the school computer system and development.

1987-1988: Axel software, programming for school grades, attendances, etc.

1985-1986: Microtolvan, programming commercial software.

1977-1985: Import manager for the Association of Electrical Contractors in Iceland, importing electrical material.
